So I am playing major catch up here but I use this blog as a family history, so it is important for me to record the events that have happened with our family. Christmas was absolutely wonderful and one of my favorite events was the Nativity I planned. Usually we do a full dress up and try and read Luke 2 and then most of the Grandkids lose focus on what is happening (they are still pretty young).
So this year, I did a scavenger hunt. We let all of the children dress up in Nativity clothes and they had to find the Baby Jesus to give him a special gift. They had to talk to several people to find out where he was. The Inn Keeper, Angel and Wisemen told the children a little bit about their experience and where to find the Baby Jesus. We ended with Mary and Joseph (Grandma and Grandpa) talking about just how special the Savior's birth was.
The children gave Mary the gift they brought, not knowing what was inside. Mary and Joseph talked about the gifts we can bring to Jesus now. We give service and offer kindness to others as gifts to our Savior. Inside the box was a one thing each child had done that week to be Christlike. The kids loved that they were each highlighted. It was a wonderful reminder of how we can give to our Savior now.
The night ended with gift giving and Polar Express watching! It was one of the best Christmas parties we have had yet!!
