We have never really pushed Santa Claus with Brooklyn, but this year she was old enough to recognize Santa, so we decided on doing pictures with the jolly old man. My sister and I thought it would be fun to take our kids to the mall to take pictures with Santa. Brooklyn usually loves this sort of thing, so we were hoping she would be the leader in showing the other kids how fun it can be! Brooklyn talked about Santa and "ho,ho,ho" the whole way to the mall. She even talked about her Santa dress. When we got to the mall, Santa was walking around and talking to kids. He freaked out the children in front of us, through no fault of his own, and set off a chain reaction of uneasiness. Brooklyn and her cousins didn't particularly care for sitting on his lap.
When it came for Brooklyn's turn, she got close to Santa to get her stickers. I put her on his lap and she ended up being just fine. She was unsure of why we were doing it, but that's better than screaming!
